With ASUCR-funded/affiliated Student Advocacy Days, all students must generally meet the minimum requirements to participate:
Be a current, full time undergraduate student at UC Riverside.
Remain in good standing with your college.
Not have any active registration holds placed on your account.
Able to travel consistent with state or federal requirements.*
Travel Advisory Notice*
In order to travel with the ASUCR delegation via airplane, delegates must meet federal requirements and present a valid state-issued REAL-ID or EDL compliant identification card or federal-issued identification deemed acceptable for traveling purposes.
Identification requirements for ground transportation (via bus, van, or car) to Sacramento may be requested for hotel booking purposes. Delegates will not be asked or required to drive their own or UCR fleet services vehicles. ASUCR staff will facilitate ground transportation meaning staff will drive or a charter bus will be rented to transport delegation.

All of our advocacy day applications will ask for applicants to disclose information that may jeopardize your own comfortability in the space. What is REAL-ID? REAL ID is a federal standard for identification needed from May 7, 2025, to board domestic flights, enter military bases, or access federal facilities, requiring proof of identity, SSN, residency (like a passport, birth certificate, Permanent Resident Card) at your state's DMV to get a compliant card (marked with a star). If you don't have one, you can use other IDs like a passport or pay a new $45 TSA fee for identity verification at airports, but you must provide documents to prove who you are, or risk being denied boarding. What is EDL? Enhanced Drivers Licenses (EDLs) are state-issued enhanced drivers licenses that provide proof of identity and U.S. citizenship when crossing the U.S. border in a vehicle. They are issued in a secure process, and include technology that makes travel easier. Source
EDL's are available in the following states:
Michigan
Minnesota
New York
Vermont
Washington
Can undocumented students apply? Any UCR student that meets the requirements above are highly encouraged to apply for any of our advocacy days. Non-citizens including undocumented students face specific requirements surrounding traveling and are encourage to seek legal counsel or visit UCR Immigrant Legal Services. Can graduate students, faculty, or staff apply? No. These opportunities are exclusive to UCR Undergraduate Students. Delegation members must be a currently enrolled UCR undergraduate student at the time of applying and during the advocacy day/trip.
Can part-time undergraduate students apply? No. Students be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the time of applying and during the advocacy day/trip. To be considered a full-time student at UCR, you must enroll in at least 12 units per quarter.
Will delegation members need government issued identification apart from airport security? Valid government-issued identification may be requested for the purposes of checking into your rooming groups hotel room, however this may not be necessary and can be coordinated with ASUCR Government Relations staff prior to departure.
How is my information collected for booking travel? All personal information will be collected by ASUCR Professional Staff in a secure and confidential form that will be used to book travel requiring personal information. In instances such travel requiring airfare, ASUCR professional staff may request a photo copy of your REAL ID-compliant identification or air travel-eligible to confirm information. No ASUCR staff will ask for personal information other than full name as presented on identification, date of birth, UCR Student Identifiacation Number (SID), NetID, or direct contact information.
